“My Movie Opens Today”

Ashley’s Ashes is released today. That is an amazing thing. And so I must return to the one note that I have sung since all this began – my deep sense of gratitude.

To a college professor in Arizona I offer special thanks – his generosity will never be forgotten by me. To my partners, Chris and Chris, who accepted me immediately and offered me this extraordinary opportunity I will forever be grateful. These were two guys who really wanted to make changes in their lives by telling this wonderful story, and made a tremendous change in mine by allowing me to tell it with them. To the collaborators and crew that they were able to assemble and that we add to, to this day, I say thanks. To all the members of the cast who agreed to do their parts, for no reason really other than I asked, I say thanks, yet again. Each one of those yeses was a wonderful thing, collectively they define the most gratifying thing that has ever happened to me. To my wife, Clarinda, who first set this all in motion by talking to Chris’s wife, Heidi, I offer a whole other level of thanks. Our lives, as a couple, as parents, and as actors, ain’t easy – but we do it. We hang in there, and sometimes, like today, succeed. There is no one else I could imagine doing any part of this with than her.
